COBI F4U-4 Corsair – Historical Building Blocks 2417

The Vought F4U-4 Corsair was a US Navy fighter aircraft. It was manufactured by Vought-Sikorsky Aircraft between 1942 and 1952. The popular Corsair was adopted in 1942, although the design process extended back to 1938. The series featured hinged wings and a cockpit located at the rear, as a result of numerous design and testing changes and prototypes. The peak of the design work was achieved with a structure with unique performance, which many consider to be the best fighter of World War II. Corsairs were used in US units during the Korean War.

Initially, combat took place between F4U and Yak-9 fighters, but after the arrival of the MiG-15, the Corsairs were withdrawn to support roles as light aircraft and night fighters. The aircraft was equipped with six 12.7mm Browning machine guns, two 450kg bombs or eight 127mm HVAR unguided missiles. The first African-American US Navy pilot flew on a machine like this. The Vought F4U-4 Corsair series was released on a license from the Northrop-Grumman consortium and includes 520 high-quality parts.
